Help Us Bridge the Gap Until We’re Home

We didn’t plan to be here, but here we are.

The last few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind, and I owe everyone some transparency.

We made the difficult decision to relocate back east and began looking at homes with acreage in Kentucky. We listed our Arizona home expecting it to take some time—but instead, it sold in four days at asking price. While that is a blessing(and in many ways it was), it also triggered a timeline we were not prepared for.

Our buyers are currently homeless after losing their home in a fire, so we have been doing everything we can to make this work for everyone. We initially agreed on a February 18th closing date based on information given to us by the sellers of the Kentucky home we planned to purchase. Unfortunately, those sellers later changed the timeline and then refused to address major issues found during inspection—issues required for our loan approval. With no flexibility from them, we were forced to walk away.

We immediately moved to a Plan B home, only to have that fall through as well when the sellers decided mid-negotiation that they no longer wanted to sell.

Now, our home is closing on February 24th, and we do not yet have another home to move into.

Thanks to some truly incredible friends, our horses and donkeys have temporary boarding lined up, our livestock and dogs have places to go, and I may need to stay behind in Arizona with the cats for a short time while we sort out housing. What was supposed to be a straightforward move has turned into something incredibly complicated—and incredibly expensive.

I hate asking for help, especially for a move we were already planning. But the unexpected timing, temporary housing, animal boarding, feed, and care have pushed this far beyond what we budgeted for.
